XXVII

I

And it's strange
I've never felt the present so near to me.
But maybe that's because the future has never been far away.

II

I exist on the edge now.
My head on one side,
My foot outstretched into the other.
I am the art of balance.
Until he shows me where to fall.

III

But the sky is still blue,
And my toes will still feel the caress of the waves.
I will surrender everything
To the salt, the birds, and the sand.

IV

Happiness washes over us like the sea
It climbs on top of us unexpected but so welcome.
It retreats when my stomach is still dry,
But seeps into my nostrils
And refreshes me.

V

I am open.
I am free.
Said the sea.
